HAZY SHADE OF WINTER II - PART TWENTY
PREVIOUSLY
Todd moved with purpose thought the hotel, came to Téa’s room and tried the door. It was unlocked. He opened it and walked inside. Téa stood next to the balcony. Her eyes were moist as if she was holding back tears. She turned to look at Todd, arms crossed.
Their eyes locked.
“Téa, we need to talk,” said Todd decisively as he closed the door behind him, locking it.

INTRODUCTION TO PART 20
Well, I hope this is a very satisfying chapter for you! A strong and confident Téa confronts both Todd and Cameron setting the ground rules for their future relationship. She also makes it “official”, signing Samantha’s custody documents. Aw, I don’t want to spoil the surprises… I’ll let you read them…
Look around,
The grass is high
The fields are ripe
It’s the springtime of my life!
Téa’s room,
The San Marcos Hotel,
Puerto Rico…
Téa stood beside her balcony. Her eyes were wet but she had not shed any tears. Her arms were crossed in front of her. She wore a light summer pastel dress. She swallowed. Her husband, Todd Manning, stood at the room’s door, having just locked it. She was alone. Alone with him.
“Téa, we need to talk,” said Todd holding his ground. Not moving from the door. He was nervous too.
She said nothing, just staring at him.
“Look – you know I’m not big into talk but I will not lose you. Not after all…we’ve been through,” he said not averting his gaze from her, “I want my wife back! I love you.”
“Todd…you ignored my wishes…!” she started.
“I left you alone down here so you could do your soul searching. Do what you wanted…!” he protested, “I kept an eye on Cruz! No harm came to you Téa…!”
“I don’t know what to say to you Todd…” said Téa.
He walked toward her, “Well, that’s a first. Delgado’s speechless. I know what I want to say to you but I don’t want it to come out wrong. Especially now…”
She paused, wiping her eyes, “You had a good intentions, didn’t you?”
“Whatever,” he said stopping right in front of her, “I…love you Téa. I…want you…in my life. I wanted to marry you again. I…want to have a kid with you. And I think…I can. And you shut down…you just shut down. I lost him too, Téa. And I tried to be supportive but Téa you asked me to do something I couldn’t do. Give you space to figure yourself out. Look…I need you…in my life. I don’t know what you found out about yourself but I can’t do this – I can’t…be without you…” said Todd fumbling with the words, trying desperately to make her understand him. He wanted to touch her. To kiss her. To hold her. It had been so long since she had been in his arms. Since they had been intimate.
“Oh Todd,” she said softly, “I know that wasn’t easy for you…”
“So Delgado, what now?” he asked. His voice was full on intensity, “You ready…for motherhood?”
She sniffled, holding back her tears, “Yeah, Todd. I’m ready. Before you showed up I was...thinking about my life…our life. Going back to Llanview. Being a sister to Roseanne. A mother to Samantha. A wife to you. But now…” she said. Her voice shook. Full of confusion.
“But now what? What about your mother? Is she the evil demon you…made her out to be?” asked Todd. He swallowed. He was so close to her but all of a sudden it was important to him for her to reach out to him. For once. It had always been him…reaching for her. He didn’t know when the roles got reversed. They just had and now – even when he wanted to reach out to her, he had to hold back and let her…want him.
“No Todd, I don’t think she is. I think…she’s somewhere between heaven and hell,” answered Téa.
“What about you?” he asked putting his hand in his pockets, “Where are you at?”
She made a face, “I guess…I’m somewhere in between as well. Todd, there’s a lot of my mother in me. There is. But I don’t have too…let it scare me like it has. I don’t have too let it stop me from being a better person – from trying to be a better person. I can build – make it good…make it better for Samantha…” she paused all choked up, “Todd, I can show Samantha how to dance…instead of discouraging her…if she wants too!”
“That’s good. While you’re at it, show Shorty too…” he said lightly. She grinned. Finally.
Todd reached into his pant’s back pocket and pulled out an envelope. It was crumpled and wrinkled. He pulled a document out of it and held it up.
“So are you ready to sign this now?” he asked.
“Samantha’s custody document?” she whispered.
“Yeah,” he replied. He could tell he was affecting her.
“I’m ready,” she said. Finally, but slowly she walked toward him, into his personal space.
He handed her the folded document. She looked at it and then stared at Todd.
“Todd, I…”
There was a knock on the door.
“Don’t answer it,” said Todd.
She said nothing as she walked past him. She unlocked the door and opened it. It was Roseanne and Cameron. Todd had turned to face the door and looked at them with disgust.
“So, ah, Téa? What’s going on?” asked Roseanne clutching Téa’s journal.
“You’re interrupting us,” said Todd frowning at the newcomers.
“C’Mon in,” said Téa opening the door wider. They did. She shut the door.
“Both of you – are infuriating…however my initial disgust at your actions has worn off as I realize both of you had good intentions…” started Téa.
“Téa!”
“Delgado!”
“Todd – Cameron is the father of my child and I own him a certain degree of accountability. Especially if he is going to recognize me as Samantha’s mother. He’s going to be a presence in our lives for better or for worse – just like Blair, and I really hope you can live with that…” continued Téa.
“I’ll deal with it,” said Todd but he was not happy with it.
Téa looked at Cameron who clearly looked surprised, “Cameron – this does not give you carte blanche to invade my life – especially my marriage. I am in love with Todd. Not you. However, when it comes to Samantha I want us to be there for her. Both of us. You’re a good father. At least in my opinion. But you will not go further into my life or my marriage. If the topic of conversation is not about Samantha, there’s no discussion. Do I make myself clear?” she asked firmly.
Todd grinned.
“Crystal,” said Cameron.
“I need a pen,” said Téa.
Roseanne, who was holding the journal and pen Téa had used to write in it, handed the pen to Téa.
Roseanne and Téa exchanged an amused grin and Téa signed the document giving herself joint custody of Samantha.
Cameron swallowed.
Téa turned around and gave it to Cameron keeping a copy to herself.
“Thank you,” said Cameron softly.
“No Cameron, thank you. Thank you for giving me my daughter back to me and giving me a second chance with her,” said Téa.
“Now what?” asked Roseanne.
“I think it’s time to go home and get on with our lives,” said Téa, “But first I want some time with Todd. Alone.”
“Sure. But ah…how are we getting back to ah, Llanview…?” asked Roseanne.
“Don’t worry Junior. I got the Manning private jet down here,” said Todd.
“I brought my jet too,” said Cameron.
Todd gave Roseanne bug eyes. Roseanne gave them back.
“So, ah, Cameron, I’ll ride back with you so Todd and Téa can have their alone time,” suggested Roseanne.
‘Yeah, sure…” muttered Cameron.
“Ah, Cam, before you go,” said Téa grabbing his attention.
“What?” he asked.
“Where’s Samantha right now?” asked Téa.
“In New York with Anton and Carlotta. She’s…she went to find out about her mother so she…could better understand you. Kinda’ like what you just did,” said Cameron a bit hesitantly.
Téa smiled, “Is she all right?”
“I think…Samantha’s been exposed to things she never has been exposed to before. I think it wasn’t what she…expected,” answered Cameron.
Téa swallowed, “I know what she’s seen. I know it probably wasn’t pretty. I want to see her as soon as I get to Llanview.”
Cameron nodded his head, “I’ll make arrangements to have Carlotta and Anton bring her home.”
“Thank you,” said Téa.
“C’Mon Cam,” said Roseanne, “Don’t want to wear out your welcome. Let’s to make our arrangements and give them their privacy.”
“Sure,” he muttered.
“I’ll check in with you around dinner time Téa,” said Roseanne opening the door. Then she held up Téa’s journal, “And I’ve got this. I’ll safeguard it for you.”
“Thanks Roseanne,” said Téa.
They left. Téa locked the door.
She turned around and looked at Todd. He was smiling. It revealed how proud of her he was. How sexy she was.
“So Delgado, you mad at me?” he asked.
A tuff of his bangs fell into his eyes making him look younger. Boyish.
“I’m over it,” she grinned, walking slowly toward him, playing with her hands, seducing him with her eyes, her body posture.
“So what now?” he asked.
She stood in front of him, close.
“I…I love you Todd Manning,” she said softly.
He did nothing as he intently looked at her. Was this it?
Hesitantly, she leaned into him, lightly putting her hands on his arms. With the softest touch, she rubbed her cheek against his, drinking in his scent. She felt his body react. Become tight. Tense. She turned into him and began brushing her lips against his. Todd parted his lips but he didn’t respond. She could feel them shaking as she continued kissing them.
“It’s okay Todd. It’s okay…” she said softly.
Her kisses grew deeper. She took his lips into hers, teasing him and finally he allowed himself to kiss her back, letting out a wave of built up sexual tension he had for her. He took her into his arms, aggressively kissing her back. They stood there in the middle of the room, snuggled into each other’s arms as they just enjoyed kissing each other. Finally, Téa pulled away to catch her breath.
“What now?” he whispered. It was as if he was on a high as he felt his blood rush though his body – heightening his sensations. He knew what he wanted.
“Can you spare an hour or two?” she asked feeling her own enhanced pulse fill her body.
“Yeah. Can you…?” he replied. Full of desire for her.
“Yeah,” she replied.
Todd stepped back and reached for his cell phone, “When do you want to leave Delgado?”
“I want…I want to spend the rest of the day with you. I want…to sleep in your arms tonight.” she answered.
“Oh God Téa, you…you mean that?” asked Todd.
“I thought of you a lot Todd while I was here alone without you. How much I love you. I thought of kissing you first and then I thought of going further until finally…I dreamed of making love to you. I don’t want to dream anymore…” she answered.
Todd made a phone call and arranged to leave the island first thing tomorrow morning. When he was finished, he put the phone down on a nightstand.
Their looks said more than words and Téa walked into his arms ambitiously finding his mouth again, exploring him with a re-awakened desire. She felt his lips begin kissing her neck, teasing her collarbone. She felt his hands along the curve of her back – his fingertips excited her…her body. She knew he needed more.
“Ah, Todd…” she whispered.
“What?” he breathlessly asked.
“Do you have any birth control?” she asked.
“Birth control…? Ah, no, why?” he asked slightly confused and totally aroused.
“Todd, I’m not ready…just yet…to conceive again…” she whispered.
“Yeah, okay…yeah…we should wait a bit. Get our lives settled…” he muttered, “But look what we’ve done. My body needs you Delgado…”
“Mine too Todd. Oohhh…” she whispered.
“There’s no way, I’m leaving this room in my condition…” he muttered.
“We are sooo not responsible,” she remarked.
“So, what’s a married couple to do?” he asked as he began tracing his fingers along her delicate collarbone.
“Got any suggestions…? she asked biting her lip.
“Do you trust me…?” he asked.
“Yes,” she answered.
“I know it’s not the safest thing to do but I’ll…pull out…before…I promise…I swear…” he said, whispering into her ear.
“You’re right – it’s not the safest…” she said.
He lowered his head so it was resting on her chest, “Oh God, Téa, I don’t want to stop…but…I will…if you…”
“Don’t stop. We are married. If it happens, it happens you know…Don’t stop what you’re doing Todd…” she pleaded accepting the situation.
“You mean that?” he said.
She nodded her head, ‘yes.’
He stood up before her and placed his hands on the short sleeves of her dress and slid them off her arms. The dress followed and she stood there before him in her panties and bra. He pulled back to look at her – all of her. Her face was red. Full of passion.
Without saying a word, he untucked his shirt and pulled it over his head revealing his body – his chest to her. She gazed longingly at his attractive body. He paused and put his hands on his pants, unbuttoning them, She walked up to him, and put her hands over his.
“What are you doing Delgado?” he asked. Nervous. Anxious.
“I’m helping you,” she replied. And with that, she pulled down his pants and boxers to his ankles. He stood before her naked. Bare before her. He stepped out of his pants and walked toward her enveloping her in his arms, fumbling at her bra. As he nuzzled her ear, drinking in her perfume, she began fondling him and he groaned in order to let out his pent up anxiety. He reached down and slid his hand into her panties, cupping her in his fingers, kissing her lips.
“You are so wet…” he whispered. He slid her panties down her legs and they allowed their bodies to dance – move in rhythm as they teased each other, Téa sliding a knee between Todd’s legs, Todd gliding his hands between her breasts.
Without hesitation, she wrapped her arms around him and they tumbled onto the bed, lost in each other and their bodies, enthralled in their lovemaking. They continued rubbing their bodies against each other sending wave after wave of physical excitement thought their bodies.
A deep kiss shared…
Fingertips lightly exploring…
He rubbed himself aggressively against her fleshy thigh.
She turned into him and he rolled over on top of her. Leaning into her he entwined their fingers together, skin on skin. With an anxious thrust he ripped into her, finally becoming one with her – thrilled at the danger between them. Thrilled to be sharing the danger with her.
They began moving rhythmically, slowly savoring the feelings between them and then suddenly, he pulled out, in time, coming all over her stomach and he realized just how much of a big turn on it was for him, his lips quivering at every delicious emotion he was feeling and he collapsed down beside her on the bed.
She turned to face him and he got up. He got a washrag and tenderly cleaned her up. Nothing was said between them. There was no need to say words. This next time…would be different. Not rushed. Not hurried. It would be special. They would know that their lovemaking had conceived a child.
