HAZY SHADE OF WINTER II - PART FOUR

He looked up at her, his lip trembling, his eyes welling up with tears.
“Cut me some slack Blair. My wife just lost my baby tonight…” he choked.
Blair wrinkled her brow, “Fine…you go up and see your daughter but don’ wake her up…”
Todd nodded his head and rushed up the stairs.

A week later,
The Manning Estate…
Todd came in the house and walked into the living room pausing at the doorway. He had just come from a therapy session with his therapist, Susannah Hannen. He had been incredibly stressed out over the miscarriage and Téa’s withdrawal into herself since then.
Téa sat in a chair, in a bathrobe, looking out the window into the backyard. She had done this ever since getting home from the hospital, after losing their child. She was going through the motions, listless. Carlotta, Roseanne, and even Samantha had wanted to see her but Téa had turned them all away.
Todd took a breath. The doctor had told them the child would have been a boy. They gave him a small funeral the day after Téa got out. They had named him Adam Antonio.
No more! He wanted her back and no matter what it took, he was going to push her for a reaction – any reaction at all.
He walked up behind her and placed his hands on her shoulders, rubbing them.
“Don’t Todd…” she whispered staring out the window.
He ignored her and continued massaging her, enjoying the feel of her shoulders underneath his hands.
She did nothing.
Finally, he spoke up, “We’ve got to talk about it Téa. I’m not going anywhere until we do…”
“I don’t want to talk anymore…” she replied.
“That’s a switch. You don’t want to talk,” he said.
He began to run his fingers through wisps of her hair.
“Don’t patronize me Todd…” said Téa weakly.
Todd stopped and walked in front of her, blocking her view.
“I’m not patronizing you. I want you back. Your fire. Your passion. And it’s not only me. Carlotta wants you back. So does Junior and Shorty and…your daughter…Samantha…” he said firmly.
“You’re blocking my view,” said Téa trying to look around him.
He kneeled down in front of her, taking his hand, placing it on her face, turning her eyes towards him, “I don’t care if I’m blocking your view Delgado.”
“Stop it Todd,” said Téa wrinkling her nose.
“No, I won’t stop it. I need you to feel Téa…” he pleaded.
“I don’t want to feel Todd. I don’t want to feel a thing…” she replied.
He made a face and pulled her into him, nuzzling her. She didn’t react. He kissed her, finding her maddening. Her lips finally returned his forceful kisses – her lips alive with that passion he was looking for. His hands trailed down her neck, lower…
She pushed him away, “I don’t want to make love Todd!”
He stayed close to her, “Why Téa? You don’t want to take another chance?”
“No, I don’t…I don’t want to hurt…” she whispered as tears began to run down her cheeks.
“You’re feeling Téa…” remarked Todd.
“And it hurts Todd. It hurts like hell…” she replied.
“I know about hurting Téa. I know about hurting like hell and I know about pain…” he said returning his hand to her cheek.
“You’ve cornered the market on hurt and pain Todd? Is that what you think?” said Téa raising her voice.
“I…I don’t know…about that…” he replied.
“I lost our child Todd! I did! I wasn’t strong enough! I don’t deserve…” she said loudly, getting angry.
“Bullshit!” yelled Todd, “If it wasn’t for you I wouldn’t want a second chance! Téa!”
He paused.
Their eyes met.
“Damn it Téa! Open your heart to me like how I’ve opened my heart to you! Téa – don’t you think for one moment that I’m not hurting over the loss of our son as well?” shot back Todd.
“Todd…” she whispered.
He collapsed into her lap and wrapped his arms around her waist, showing her his own tears of sorrow.
“Téa…God…please don’t stop living. Please, don’t! When I was in Switzerland I wanted to get better so bad so I could be with you and Shorty. I want you to do the same. I want you to be with me! I want to get better so bad…” he cried through his anguish.
“Oh Todd…oh, Todd…” she whispered emotionally.
His eyes looked up into hers.
Slowly, she lifted her shaking hand and held it over his brow.
He said nothing, maintaining his eye contact. A tear slid down his cheek, onto her bathrobe.
“Touch me Téa…” he whispered.
She wrinkled her face.
“Feel Téa. Feel for me. I know it hurts but I’ll be right there to feel it with you…” he pleaded, not knowing where he found the strength for his words.
Her hand shook.
“I’ll never leave you Téa…” he whispered.
Gently she lowered her hand and placed it on his forehead brushing his hair back.
“I’m scared Todd…” she whispered.
“I’m scared too…” he replied.
Her eyes told him how big of a chance she was giving him.
Impulsively, he leaned up into her face with his own, lightly kissing her cheeks, her nose, nuzzling her again.
“Feel me Téa. Open that crack in the door wider Téa. Let me in…let me hurt with you…” he whispered through his own pain while continuing to intimately touch her face with his own.
And slowly, she allowed her face to react to his. She began to nuzzle his face with hers through her tears, teasing his cheeks…
“Hurts Todd…it hurts so bad…” she whispered.
“Share it with me Téa…” he whispered.
“I lost him…” she said putting her hands on his shoulders.
“We lost him Téa…” said Todd, his lips brushing hers, “Say it – say – we lost him…”
“No, I did, Todd…” she said brushing her lips against his.
“Wider…open it wider…feel…we lost him…say it…we lost him…” he pleaded taking his hands and running them up her sides, allowing her to feel their physical touching… touching - they hadn’t had between them for a while.
“We…”
“We what?” he encouraged.
“We lost…him…” she cried out in agony.
He took her into his arms, putting her into him, allowing her free falling tears to fall all over his body.
“Do you feel Téa?” he asked.
“It hurts so bad Todd…” she choked.
He held her tighter.
“Do you feel me Téa?” he asked through his own tears.
“I feel you Todd…” she replied.
They allowed their tears to intermingle.
