I TAKE THE DICE - PART FOURTEEN
PREVIOUSLY
“I’ve got the two best guys in the world,” she said.
“Three. Don’t forget Tyler…” insisted Trevor.
“Yeah. Don’t forget the only other guy allowed to be in your life,” said Todd.
“Trust me, you three are all I can handle,” said Téa sitting up. Todd slid on the couch next to her. He motioned for Trevor to sit between them and put his arm around her, pulling her into an affectionate kiss. Trevor couldn’t help but squirm.

A week later,
Early October,
Fiona’s prison…
Fiona watched Kevin walk out of the meeting room. He had been very attentive, visiting her practically every day while she had been there. He even smuggled in cigarettes for her that she appreciated. She would give them to the big girls – the bullies – and that would appease them. They would leave her alone. She always held a pack back for herself. While she usually frowned on smoking she had taken it up in this environment. For some reason it helped to calm her down. It was relaxing almost…to smoke.
Another week. Another week of this shit. She couldn’t wait. RJ Gannon walked up to her.
“Miss your sweetie all ready Fiona?” asked RJ sarcastically. His hands were in his pockets and he looked relaxed.
“When’s your trial anyway Gannon?” asked Fiona crossing her arms, meeting his hostility.
“I didn’t know you cared Braxton,” fired back RJ.
“Tell you what, I’ll show up in court and be your number one cheerleader,” replied Fiona.
“Don’t do me no favors. Look, Kerensky is coming by to see me alone,” said RJ.
“You tell him about me?” asked Fiona.
“I mentioned you,” said RJ.
“Mighty nice of you,” grinned Fiona, “For what it’s worth Gannon, I hope you go free.”
RJ said nothing. He only grinned and raised an eyebrow. This one was hard to figure out.

The Law Offices of Rappaport and Manning…
Téa walked into her office in a rush. She appeared a bit frazzled and walked up to her disorganized desk. She threw stuff about, messing it up even more.
Nick walked up to the doorway, “Téa, what are you doing here?”
Téa turned around and looked up. She was dressed in a savoy business power suit, “Nick! You startled me.”
“I didn’t mean too. I’m on my way out to meet with RJ…” he started.
Téa continued to further decimate her desk.
“What are you doing?” questioned Nick.
“Todd and I are taking the twins for a checkup and I need Taylor’s medical records and I know they’re somewhere on my desk!” fussed Téa, “By the way, give RJ my best.”
“Will do. He wants me to meet a fellow inmate,” remarked Nick.
“Oh? Who?” asked Téa grinning as she spotted Taylor’s records at the bottom of a stack.
“Fiona Braxton,” he replied.
Téa stopped dead in her tracks and looked up not bothering to hide her disgust, “Tell me you are not representing her?!” she spat.
“Ah no, not yet…” began Nick.
“Well, if you have any respect for me as your law partner, you won’t. She’s put me and my family through hell,” said Téa. Her voice was cold and she slowly began walking toward the door.
He held up his hand, forcing her to stop in front of him. Their eyes locked. There was an awkward pause between them.
Finally Nick spoke up, “I…respect you. I do. I don’t…know what she did but…if you don’t want me to represent her, I won’t.”
“Thank you Nick,” she replied.
Again, there was an awkward pause between them.
“Todd’s waiting in the car,” said Téa.
Nick moved out of the way and allowed her to pass, watching her rush out.

Llanview’s minimum security prison…
Nick met with RJ in the meeting room and went over paperwork with him. It was very routine. As the meeting wound down, a woman approached them.
“Fiona Braxton,” said Fiona holding out her hand for Nick to shake, “RJ said he mentioned me to you.”
Nick was polite and stood up, “Ms. Braxton. Yes, he did mention you but due to a full workload I can’t take you on a client.”
Fiona looked shocked, “Boy that was quick.”
“Just thought I’d be up front with you,” said Nick.
“You talked to Téa Manning about me didn’t you?” asked Fiona.
Nick shrugged his shoulders, “She is my associate.”
“And you won’t give me a fair shake because of that?”
“I’m not saying that. I’m saying I have a full workload and I can’t take on a new client,” said Nick very deliberately and slowly.
“I see,” hissed Fiona, “Nice chatting with you.” She walked off.
“What’s with her?” asked Nick addressing RJ.
RJ shrugged, “I dunno. Bad hair day?”
Nick smirked, concluded his business and walked off.

Llanview General,
That afternoon…
Todd held a fussy Tyler as the doctor examined him. Téa was holding Taylor in her arms who was quiet and peaceful.
Tyler wailed as the doctor examined him, poking and prodding him with stethoscopes, tongue depressors and light.
Todd clearly looked uncomfortable. Both Todd and Téa were very concerned that something might be wrong. Finally, the doctor looked up.
“How long has he been like this?” asked the doctor.
“It started last night and then this morning I noticed he was running a bit of a temperature,” remarked Téa.
“Umm…” said the doctor. He looked in Tyler’s ears.
“Look, he’s gonna’ be all right, right Doc?” asked Todd trying to hide his own fears.
“Well, it appears young Tyler has an ear infection,” replied the doctor looking up.
“That’s it?” questioned Todd.
“That’s it. Did…you expect something else?” asked the doctor.
“No…no. It’s just that…he’s my only healthy boy,” said Todd.
Téa winced at his remark. Todd didn’t notice as he tried to sooth a fussy Tyler.
“Well, he’ll be healthy again,” said Doctor Ryan writing on a pad of paper, “Here. I want you to follow these instructions. If Tyler isn’t feeling better within a day or two, I want you to bring him back.”
Todd nodded his head.
“Other than the ear infection, he’s okay?” asked Téa.
“He’s fine, Mrs. Manning. You’ve got two growing babies on your hands,” grinned the doctor.
Todd turned to Téa, “C’Mon let’s take ‘em home.”
Téa just nodded her head, trying to shake off his remark.

The New Manning Mansion
That afternoon…
Téa walked out of the nursery and into the hall. Tyler seemed relieved as the medication appeared to kick in. She would check on him in an hour or two.
Téa looked around, trying to get her bearings. She still wasn’t used to the big size of her new house. Sometimes she got lost going from the kitchen to her bedroom. She walked downstairs into the living room and turned on the radio. A newscast played.
“This station has learned that Fiona Braxton, award winning photojournalist will be released from her minimum security confinement facility next Friday. Ms. Braxton’s plans to work on an immediate assignment for Tempo Magazine. Also, Ms. Braxton has officially been assigned a parole officer to supervise her parole. Her first community assignment will be helping Reverend Andrew Carpenter in the community center soup kitchen…”
Téa flicked the channel, disgusted over the fact that Fiona made headlines – even in jail.
Todd walked in and sat next to her on the couch. He gave her a sexy grin, “What do you say we make out Mrs. Manning?”
“That was quick and to the point,” replied Téa.
He raised a playful eyebrow but sensed a tenseness about her, “All right, what’s bothering you now?”
“Nothing,” she replied looking away.
“Umm…” he said, “You’re a horrible liar Delgado. I can read you like a book…or a newspaper if you prefer.”
She looked back at him, “You can be…cute when you want to be.”
“Me? Do cute? Save it for the kids. What’s bothering you?” he pushed.
She squirmed, “Look, it’s nothing. It’s just that…when you made that remark about Tyler being your only healthy son, well, it hurt.”
“Oh,” he said at a loss for words. He raised his head and touched her cheek turning her into him, explaining his regret the best way he knew how. With his eyes.
Téa sighed.
“I am sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt you Delgado,” said Todd stroking her cheek with his thumb.
Téa bit her lip.
“C’Mon Téa – you’ve been in this funk for a while – acting like you expect some doom and gloom to hit us any day now. I promise you – there’s no gloom on the horizon,” he said gently.
“I can’t help it. It’s just a feeling,” she remarked.
“Nothing…nothing…is going to come between us Téa. Tyler will be all right. Trevor is walking fine now. Fiona’s gone. Let’s just enjoy what have. Us. Each other. Our family…” started Todd.
“Fiona’s not really gone. She’ll be released in a week…” commented Téa.
“She is gone. Out of our lives for good. Stop letting her get to your pretty little head and why don’t you let me get you all hot and bothered?” he remarked.
Before Téa could reply he forcefully drew her lips into his, kissing her with insatiable desire. He knew he could have her with no distractions. After all, Blair and Del, newly married, had taken Starr and Trevor for the day.
He knew he was being aggressive, but he wanted to kiss the hurt away. He wanted to push aside her nagging feelings that something bad was looming on the horizon for them and replace those feelings with desire. Desire for him and their family.
His hands tore at her shirt and he buried his lips in the flesh between her breasts. He could feel her hands run through his hair as he teased her nipples, biting them with rough passion. He took his own hands and undid her pants rubbing his fingers over her.
“It’s me Téa – me – doing this to you. I’m the one – driving your worries away…” he insisted bringing his wet mouth up, over her neck to her ear.
She said nothing as she allowed herself to respond to him. He could always effect her like this – with his sexuality. Maybe he could drive all of it away. Maybe.
She suddenly attacked him finding his lips with hers, surprised at her sudden demand to have him. He parted from her and tore off his shirt while she removed her own. He removed his pants quickly as did she and within minutes they attacked each other’s naked bodies. They tumbled unto the couch, each urgently wanting to possess the other.
“Drive it away…” he muttered positioning her on top of him.
“You…drive me…” she said breathlessly.
He rubbed against her tender thigh. Her face was red.
“Take your pill today?” he mumbled looking deeply into her eyes. She nodded her head and reached for his pants, pulled out his wallet and took out the condom, sliding it over him.
“Drive it away Todd. Drive it away like you do…” she insisted.
With a powerful thrust, he drove into her with raw aggression reaching up, wanting her hot skin underneath his lips. She could feel him inside her, soothing her physically – intimately – filling her up, rubbing up against her…
“Téa…let it go...release it…” he mumbled looking deeply into her eyes. He brought up his hands to her cheeks and pulled her lips into his.
“Argh!” she cried feeling the sexual intensity release itself.
He loved to hear her scream – moan – knowing it was him who had done it to her.
As she trembled in his arms he exploded all over her allowing his cries to mingle with hers. She fell into his arms and he grabbed her, pulling her into him.
“Boy that was intense…” muttered Téa.
“Was that good for you, Mrs. Manning?” he playfully grinned, hoping he had made her happy.
“Big stress reliever…” said Téa.
“I hope it was,” he replied, “This will not fall apart,” he said gesturing at their house, “I won’t let it. I won’t let anything make my family unhappy. I’ll drive it away Téa. I will. No matter what I have to do.”
She nodded her head and gave a quick smile, hoping that Todd was right. That he could drive it away.
