I TAKE THE DICE - PART ONE

PREVIOUSLY

He looked at her, “Our children…Trevor…the twins…I would never…Téa – you know I would never give my heart to another woman…” Desperately, he pulled her into him and began nuzzling her face, “You…you…are the only woman in the world who has my heart…only you…”

She nodded her head in acknowledgement.

Their kisses were tender and brief.

“You’re right…” he whispered, “It is time to go home – to our children…”

September 2001…
Early Morning…

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

Todd smashed his hand on the alarm clock, shutting it off.

Téa rolled over into him. He could feel her body next to his. He opened his eyes and looked at the clock. Six o’clock. He felt Téa’s arm over his chest.

“Aren’t the twins getting baptized today?” said Todd softly. He felt kisses on his chest.

“Yep. We need to get up. Joey, Roseanne, Viki, and Cris will be here at eight and I want to get the kids fed and dressed. Judith will be by around that time too to help out,” said Téa.

“Can’t we just slowly wake up?” asked Todd letting out a breath, becoming aroused by her attention.

Just then their bedroom door flung open and their little son, Trevor, stood at the doorway in his PJ’s. Todd and Téa shot up out of the bed, surprised by the suddenness of the opening door. Téa’s nightie barely covered her chest and Todd threw a protective cover over her, revealing his own naked chest.

“Hi Mommy. Hi Daddy!” he shouted running into their bedroom, hoping onto their bed.

“Good Morning to you too T.D.,” said Téa clearly surprised by T.D.’s excitement.

“Kid, didn’t your Mom teach you to knock?” asked Todd reaching out for his son.

T.D. giggled as he gave his father a hug, “No.”

Téa’s eyes grew wide, "T.D.! I told you about knocking!” she made sure the cover was strategically placed.

“No,” he giggled again.

Todd wrinkled his brow at T.D.

“He’s two and someone taught him how to say no…” said Téa making a face at Todd.

The phone rang. Téa reached over and answered it. Her BC pills were beside the phone so she wouldn’t forget to take them.

“Hello?”

Todd tickled Trevor who giggled uncontrollably.

“We’re up. Thanks for calling Carlotta,” said Téa.

The twins soft cries entered the room.

“Carlotta, it’s getting busy. I’ll see you at the church. You too. Bye,” Téa hung up the phone. She turned around only to see T.D. sitting in Todd’s lap, over the covers, their smiling faces warming her heart.

“You know, Téa, this house is getting a bit small…” started Todd.

“Can we get a new house Mommy?” asked T.D., “Please? Daddy says we have to ask you.”

“No,” said Téa grinning.

T.D.’s mouth dropped in shock at how quickly his Mommy had shot him down.

“I’m kidding. It hurts to hear the word no, doesn’t it T.D.?” asked Téa.

Todd just grinned as he kept his hand firmly on Trevor’s waist so he wouldn’t squirm.

Trevor nodded his head yes.

“T.D., do me a favor and go get your toothbrush so Mommy and Daddy can get dressed and get going o.k.?” suggested Téa.

“Yes, Mommy,” said T.D. bolting off the bed and running out the bedroom.

“Trevor! Slow down! I don’t want you to fall and hurt yourself!” yelled Téa after her son.

Todd got up out of the bed and grabbed his boxers on the floor sliding them on, “I got the shower first.”

Téa reached for her robe and put it on, “I’ll get the twins breakfast going and start changing diapers.”

Todd made a playful face, “All right. I’ll change a diaper before my shower.” He grabbed his robe and they walked out of their bedroom and into the twins bedroom. The rest of the morning was busy with breakfast, showers, and getting dressed. The BC container next to the phone was forgotten…

St. Catherine’s Church
Later that morning…

The only people in the church were Todd, Téa, their family, and their close friends. Father Matthew had gathered Todd, Téa, Viki, Cris, Joey, and Roseanne for some last minute instructions around the font. Carlotta, Jessie, and Sam stood next to each other in a pew and so did Del and Blair. On Del’s other side was Abuelita.

“So Del,” whispered Blair holding his hand, “What kind of wedding to do you want?”

“You’re the bride – you choose. You want some big fancy church wedding?” asked Del.

“Maybe something a bit more low key,” replied Blair smiling at him.

Del got a big grin on his face, “We could elope. Go to Vegas.”

Blair looked at Del in mock shock, “That idea really appeals to you, doesn’t it?”

“And it appeals to you too…” said Del smiling at her.

“Well, maybe…” hinted Blair, “How soon?”

“Next weekend?” asked Del.

Abuelita smiled.

“Sure, why not? Todd and Téa won’t mind having Starr for the weekend,” said Blair smiling.

“Trevor looks nice in his little suit huh?” asked Del turning around and addressing Abuelita. She nodded her head in confirmation.

“Téa’s little boy looks just like Téa,” remarked Abuelita.

Trevor was standing next to Téa, holding her hand.

“TODD! HOW COULD YOU?” came a cry as the church doors flung open. Everyone turned around surprised by the voice. A blonde haired woman in a floral print dress descended down the aisle.

“How could you have this shindig and not invite me?”

“Tina…” muttered Blair crossing her arms.

“Tina…” muttered Todd and Viki in unison. Todd crossed his arms and Viki, who was holding Taylor, just grinned.

Starr, who was standing in front of Todd looked at Trevor and both shrugged their shoulders.

Téa turned to Todd, “You’ve got some explaining to do Mister…” she said keeping her tone light but serious.

Tina paused in front of Blair, “I see Todd came to his senses.”

“Maybe I came to mine,” retorted Blair.

“Right. Whatever,” said Tina. She continued walking down the aisle and approached the font, stopping in front of Todd and smiling at him.

“Todd, you big lug. Give me a hug,” said Tina. They exchanged a warm affectionate hug. Téa looked on in mock shock, not quite understanding what was going on.

Tina broke the embrace and turned to Viki, “I’d give you a hug but your hands are full.”

“It’s o.k., Tina, later,” said Viki grinning from ear to ear.

Tina peered at the little girl dressed in a white and pink gown in Viki’s arms and made the baby giggle with a funny face. Then Tina turned to Todd.

“She’s adorable Todd. Has your eyes. What’s her name?” asked Tina beaming at her brother.

“Taylor. Taylor Téa Delgado Manning,” said Todd glowing with pride.

“That’s a mouthful Todd,” replied Tina.

“Todd, are you going to introduce us?” prodded Téa, smiling awkwardly at Tina.

“Ah, yeah, sure. Téa, my sister, Tina. Tina, my wife, Téa,” mumbled Todd. He wasn’t good at introductions.

Tina looked at Téa and put her hands on her hips. She gave Téa the once over.

“Ah, it’s nice to meet you,” said Téa softly. She remembered Todd had mentioned he had another sister named Tina but he didn’t talk about her often.

“Same here,” said Tina pulling Téa into a hug. She broke the embrace and looked at Todd, “I approve.”

Téa’s mouth dropped but she quickly closed it.

“So, who are the two little ones?” asked Tina looking at Starr and Trevor.

Todd put his hands on Starr’s shoulders, “My daughter, Starr.”

Tina’s eyes grew wide and she hugged the girl, “Blair’s your Mom, right?”

“Right,” said Starr in awe of her father’s sister.

Tina turned to Trevor. He bashfully put his hands over his face.

“And this is our son, Trevor,” said Téa gently running her fingers through her son’s hair, “Say hello, Trevor.”

He moved his hands and put them behind his back and began to sway, “Hello,” he said.

“He’s kinda shy with people he meets,” added Todd.

Tina knelt down to Trevor’s level, “I’m your Daddy’s sister.”

“You’re pretty…” said Trevor shyly.

Tina stood up, “What cuties, Todd. Now don’t you have another boy?”

Todd motioned for Joey and Roseanne to come over. Joey was holding little Tyler. Tyler was wearing a white and blue gown. Tina smiled at the small boy who smiled back. She looked up at Téa, “He’s got your eyes.”

“Yeah…” whispered Téa.

“Ah, so, are we ready to begin?” asked Father Matthew.

“We are now that I’m here,” said Tina grinning.

Blair rolled her eyes and looked at Del, “She could ruin…”

Del interrupted her, “I take it you and Tina don’t get along.”

Blair confirmed his observation with a smile, “That’s putting it mildly.”

The ceremony began. The font got pretty crowded with Todd, Téa, Starr, Trevor, the Godparents and the twins plus Tina standing around it. Taylor squirmed when the priest poured the water over her head but didn’t cry out. Tyler fussed a bit, but again, he didn’t cry. The ceremony ended with Cris holding Taylor and Viki holding Taylor’s candle. Roseanne held Tyler and Joey held Tyler’s candle.

fair…

The reception was held at Llanfair. Blair had to go to work and left Starr with Todd. Todd let Starr play with Trevor. They were playing outside on the patio. Todd and Tina were watching them and talking.

“How long are you here for?” asked Todd, his hands in his pockets.

“My flight leaves at four,” said Tina.

“You’re not going to stay for a bit? How’s CJ and Sarah?” asked Todd a touch of disappointment in his voice.

“Can’t. Commitments. The kids are growing like weeds,” said Tina proudly. She pulled out recent pics and showed them to Todd.

Téa peered around Todd’s shoulder, “They’re very nice pictures,” she said.

“Yeah. What she said,” added Todd.

“Oh – your kids are cute too, but I did notice….Trevor, right? He walks with a slight limp…is he all right?” asked Tina.

Téa hung her head. Todd put his hand on her shoulder in a gesture of comfort, “It’s the effects of his hemophilia Tina, he should have crutches but we’re lax with that,” he said.

“Hema – what?” asked Tina genuinely concerned.

“Trevor’s blood doesn’t clot properly so if he gets a cut or starts bleeding, he can’t stop. He could literally bleed to death,” explained Téa looking up at her sister-in-law.

Tina could see the sadness in Téa’s eyes, “Oh. So, how do you get a cut to stop bleeding?”

“They have to give him a special clotting factor made from derivatives of my blood,” said Todd, “He’s got my rare blood type.”

“Todd, I didn’t think our side of the family had problems…” added Tina.

Téa spoke up, “He got it from me. Hemophilia is inherited through the maternal side of the family.”

Tina felt the sadness in Téa’s voice, “I’m sorry. Your twins?”

“The twins are fine. They weren’t effected by it,” said Todd.

Sam walked up, ‘Téa, I got another lawyer to help out down at the office.”

“Really, Sam? Without asking me first?” said Téa playfully.

“Well, I’m defending RJ against that murder charge and I hear Asa will be serving you with a libel suit any day now,” added Sam, “We’re going to have our hands full.”

“Whatever,” said Todd rolling his eyes.

“A man? A woman?” prodded Téa.

“A man. Nicholas Kerensky. I’ll introduce you guys tomorrow,” said Sam.

Todd frowned, “What kind of name is Nicholas Kerensky? I don’t want you working with some bum or a freak…” His eyes found Téa’s…

Téa giggled as she kept eye contact with him.

“What?” asked Todd not turning away.

“Todd, I haven’t even met the guy!” exclaimed Téa.

“So?” questioned Todd.

Tina spoke up, “Your…protectiveness is sweet little brother.”

Todd broke eye contact and looked at Tina, “Oh, is that what you call this?”

“Yeah. That’s what it is,” said Tina smiling, “You can’t fool me.”

“Whatever,” said Todd putting his arm around Téa’s waist and pulling her into him.

They visited with Tina until it was time for her to leave.

Buchanan Enterprises…

Nora walked into Asa’s office wearing a power suit and carrying a briefcase. Bo followed behind her. Asa looked up from his desk, “Hey son. Well Nora?”

She stopped in front of his desk and threw a copy of the libel complaint down in front of him, “There it is. Your libel complaint.”

“Hey Paw,” said Bo hanging out around the door.

“So Nora, you give Manning a copy yet?” asked Asa looking the complaint over.

“I’ll file the complaint and serve him tomorrow,” said Nora crossing her arms.

“Damn you woman! Do it today,” instructed Asa.

“No,” said Nora firmly.

“Why not?” shot back Asa.

“Because he’s getting his kids baptized today and I’m not about to ruin that for him or Téa – or their family,” said Nora.

“I’ll do it then,” said Asa getting up.

“No, you won’t,” said Nora.

Asa sneered at her, “And why won’t I?”

“The court closes at 4:30 and it’s 4:45 and you can’t serve him until you file it in court,” explained Nora.

Asa nodded his head in disgust.

Bo came forward and stood next to Nora, “Paw, I’m afraid I don’t have good news either.”

“Oh. What news do you have Bo?” asked Asa frankly.

“I’ve got to charge Fiona, Paw. So out of courtesy, I’m telling you what I’m charging her with. One count of kidnapping against Starr Manning. One count of kidnapping against Trevor Manning. One count of Aggravated Assault against Téa Manning and one count of Aggravated Assault against Trevor Manning,” explained Bo as gently as he could.

“What? You’re crazy son! Hasn’t that girl been through enough?! She’s not up to this…!” yelled Asa standing up behind his desk.

“I have to have the DA indite her, Paw. She’s not in a mental hospital anymore…” said Bo firmly, “If Fiona’s up not to it, I suggest you recommend she plead insanity.”

“Insanity?! That girl’s not insane!” yelled Asa getting irrated.

“The girl kidnapped two kids. What else explains it?” said Nora crossing her arms, looking firmly at Nora.

“All right fine. You’ll plead insanity Nora…” started Asa.

“Me? You want me to defend Fiona?” questioned Nora aghast.

“Well, Manning’s wife sure as hell ain’t gonna defend her.

Besides you’re the best defense attorney in town,” said Asa firmly looking at Nora.

“Geez, thanks Asa,” said Nora rolling her eyes. She turned to Bo, “So when’s the indictment?”

“Tomorrow at ten,” answered Bo holding back a smirk.

Nora turned to Asa, “You have that girl ready by nine.”

“Will do,” said Asa.

That evening…
The Manning Estate…

Téa stood over her daughter’s crib watching the young baby peacefully sleep, singing a soft Spanish lullaby. Todd walked into the room and gently placed his hands on her shoulders, “Neither of ‘em cried when they got the water,” remarked Todd.

“Nope. They were great,” whispered Téa. She took Todd’s hand and they walked down the hall to their bedroom peering in Trevor’s room. Trevor was fast asleep.

“You know Téa, we really should get a bigger house,” said Todd. He closed their bedroom door and ensured the room monitors were on.

“Sure Todd,” said Téa. She went into the bathroom to freshen up, “Do you have anything in mind?” she asked.

“How about something like this?” he asked holding up a picture of a Victorian style house out of the Real Estate section of the Sun. He stood at the bathroom door in his robe watching her wash her face. She looked up.

“It’s nice,” she replied.

“Good. I’ll call the real estate guy tomorrow,” said Todd with a bright smile on his face.

Téa walked out of the bathroom and sat down on Todd’s side of the bed, giving him the look. He shut off the light and joined her. She was dressed in a teal blue nightie. He turned to face her. They connected and Todd took his hand, placed it behind her neck and pulled her into a tender open mouth kiss. She took her hand and slid it inside his bathrobe, caressing his firm chest. He parted from the kiss, stood up and reached at his nightstand. He grabbed a lighter and lit three candles, placing them strategically in the room. When he was done he stood in front of the bed with his back to the mirror. Téa marveled at him and bit her lip. Todd liked it when she admired him.

“Lock the door Todd,” instructed Téa. He did.

Téa stood beside the bed and Todd walked over to her. His lips trembled as he took his hand and ran his fingers through her hair, “I want… I want…”

“What Todd?”

“I want to watch…”

Téa swallowed as she stepped into him,

“…watch us in the mirror,” he finished.

She nodded her head and grinned.

“Don’t be…scared…”

“I’m not…”

“Remember when you were pregnant? We stood in front of the mirror, kissing, and touching each other?” asked Todd.

“Yes…” she said.

With that he grabbed her, pulling her into him and they fell on the bed, kissing and snuggling, teasing each other with their lips…their fingertips…

Todd positioned Téa so she was sitting up and he sat in back of her. He pushed off his robe so he was naked in back of her. The only thing between them was her flimsy nightie. And then, with the slightest touch, he ran his fingertips down her chest, her breasts, her tummy and her inner thigh while he kissed and licked the back of her neck, watching their reflection in the mirror.

She moaned in sheer delight from the electricity flowing through her…

“Your face is turning red…” he remarked, “And you’re wet…”

“I know… I can feel you inside me…” she whispered, “I can feel your…you…against my back…. throbbing… you want to be inside me, don’t you?”

“Oh, yes…” he replied – one hand on her thigh, fingering her delicate and sensitive spot, the other hand on her breast – massaging, caressing her, “Turn into me.” He commanded.

She turned around and with an urge so primal, they eagerly became one with each other, Todd bracing her with a hand firmly on her waist – his whole body shaking from the electricity flowing throughout him – sharing that electricity with her – and she was so responsive – so hot for him…

They exploded all over each other, trying desperately to muffle their cries of passion so as not to awaken their children. With every last bit of energy he had, he grabbed her again and pulled her into him, sealing his love, passion, and desire for her with a kiss.
