“You took your pill this morning?” questioned Todd.
“Yes,” said Téa smiling at him.
“Schucks,” he replied. He leaned over and grabbed a red rose off the nightstand, “For you. Te amo mi querido,” he said in his best Spanish.
They finished the wine and fell asleep in each other’s arms.

September 2001
Llanfair…
Joey stood in the gardens of his family’s estate. He couldn’t help but smile. He stood in a traditional tux, his brother Kevin was next to him. The minister stood off to the side. The air was warm and the scent of fresh flowers drifted in the wind. He caught a quick smile from his mother and returned it. The wedding march began. The guests stood up.
Starr and River walked down the aisle. Starr dropped flower petals and River was the ring bearer. Kelly came down the aisle next escorted by Will Rappaport. She was dressed in a formal pale pink gown, her hair up. Once Kelly was down, Téa started down the aisle, dressed in a similar gown that Kelly wore. Her hair was up. Cris Vega escorted her down the aisle. Todd, dressed in a tux, was holding Trevor’s little hand in the guest seats. Trevor was dressed in a small tux, just like his father’s. Téa gave Todd and Trevor a warm smile as they passed each other. Next, Jessica Buchanan came down the aisle. She was unescorted. Her hair was up and her dress was similar to Kelly and Téa’s. She took her place as the maid of honor. Joey smiled at his sister and nervously squeezed his hands. His bride, Roseanne Delgado, began down the aisle. Her Uncle Delmonico, was escorting her down the aisle. Her dress was white with a small train. She clutched her bouquet tightly. Her hair was up.
“Rosie looks pretty…” whispered Trevor to his daddy as Roseanne passed them.
Del left Roseanne at Joey’s side and they turned to face the minister. Their wedding vows were simple but heartfelt.
Joey took the ring from Kevin, looked into his bride’s eyes and slid the ring on her finger, “With this ring, I thee wed,” he said softly.
Roseanne took her ring, slid it on her bridegroom’s finger and looked deeply into his eyes, “With this ring, I thee wed.”
“By the powers vested in me by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, I pronounce you Husband and Wife,” said the minister. Joey and Roseanne shared a tender kiss.
The wedding party and guests adjourned to the grounds to celebrate.
As soon as the wedding party pictures were taken, Todd and Trevor joined Téa. Todd held his son in his arms.
“Don’t you guys look handsome,” said Téa giving them each a kiss on the cheek.
“You look pretty Mommy,” said Trevor sincerely.
“Hi, T.D.!” said Roseanne walking up. Joey stood beside her smiling.
“Rosie!” exclaimed Trevor.
“Congrats Joey,” said Todd fidgeting in his tux.
“Thanks, Uncle Todd,” said Joey.
Roseanne held out her arms and took Trevor from Todd. They made faces at one another.
“Where’s the twins?” asked Joey glancing at Todd and Téa as he made faces at Trevor too.
“Upstairs with the nannies,” said Téa, “Which reminds me – They’re going to be baptized next week.”
“Cool,” said Joey.
Todd played with the collar to his tux.
“Yeah – and Téa and I were wondering if you guys would want to be Godparents?” asked Todd. He was clearly nervous. This was a big thing for him, picking the twins’s Godparents…
Roseanne and Joey’s faces lit up, “Really?” asked Joey clearly excited.
Jessica Buchanan walked up, “Did I just hear you ask Roseanne and Joey to be Godparents?”
“Yeah,” muttered Todd.
“Jessie’s my Godmother,” said Trevor smiling at Jessie.
“Yes, I am,” said Jessie smiling at Trevor.
Roseanne gave Trevor to Jessie and Jessie tickled Trevor. He laughed. Téa smiled at the gesture.
“Yeah – really,” said Téa, “We were thinking maybe you’d like to be Tyler’s Godparents.”
“We accept,” said Roseanne giving Téa a warm hug.
Viki walked up, “Well, hello. Everyone having a good time?”
“Mom – Roseanne and I are going to be Godparents to Tyler,” said Joey clearly excited.
“That’s wonderful,” said Viki.
Del walked up behind Jessica and Trevor.
“Hi Unca Del,” said Trevor smiling at him.
“How’s my Godson doing?” asked Del lightly, taking Trevor’s small hand in his.
“So we gotta question for you Viki…” started Todd in a very serious tone of voice.
Téa turned to Todd, “Lighten up will you?”
“This is serious stuff, Téa,” said Todd crossing his arms and wrinkling his brow, “I don’t want no weirdo being my kid’s Godparent.”
Téa made a face and turned to Viki, “Would you be Taylor’s Godmother?”
“I’d love too! Thank you for asking,” said Viki. She and Téa exchanged a quick hug, “Weirdo, huh, Todd?”
“Well, you know…” muttered Todd. Todd and Viki exchanged a warm hug as well. Téa motioned for Cris Vega to join them. He was talking to his mother.
“What’s up?” asked Cris walking over, “Is it time for the first dance?”
“Just don’t step on her toes,” said Todd clearly uncomfortable that Cris got the first dance with Téa.
“Cris, Todd and I would like you to be Godfather to Taylor,” said Téa smiling at him.
Cris warmly smiled, “Yeah – I’d like that.”
“When is the baptism?” asked Carlotta.
“Next week,” said Todd.
“At. St. Catherine’s,” finished Téa.
Viki turned to Joey, “What do you say we move this along? Isn’t it time for the first dance?”
Joey blushed, “Sure. Roseanne?”
Joey held out his hand and she warmly received it. He led her out to the dance pavilion. A haunting song called “Cuidado Con Mi Corazon” from Ricky Martin’s album, sung in a combination of Spanish and English was chosen as Joey and Roseanne’s first song.
“Jessie – Auntie Viki – did Mommy tell you about the pretty egg we got in…Poorto Rico?” asked Trevor. He had spied a plate of deviled eggs that had made him think of the fancy egg.
Todd put his arm around Téa’s waist.
“No,” said Viki smiling at the boy.
“What egg?” asked Jessie.
“It’s got lots of fancy jewels on it,” said Todd.
“The writing on it is Cyrillic but I can read the year – 1913. It’s got a picture of a man and young boy on it,” described Téa. She smiled at Todd.
“Sounds like a Faberge egg,” said Viki.
“A what egg?” asked Todd.
“We just got done talking about this in my Advanced European History class,” said Jessie smiling at Trevor, “The last Czar of Russia had the eggs made for his family every Easter."
“I never heard of him,” said Todd.
“Well, his son and yours have something in common,” said Jessie, “Can you guess what, T.D.?”
Trevor nodded his head no.
“What?” asked Todd.
“He had a bleeding problem, just like you T.D.,” said Jessie softly.
“The boy in the picture was a hemophiliac,” clarified Viki.
Téa’s eyes bugged out, “That is too freaky. Do you suppose there’s a connection?”
Kevin walked up, “Ah – guys – it’s time for the wedding party to join the dance.” He held out his hand to Jessie.
Cris took Téa’s hand and escorted her to the pavilion.
Jessie gave Trevor to Del. Todd and Del exchanged awkward smiles.
“So, ah, Del,” said Todd, “What’s going on with you and Blair?”
“Ah, well…” stammered Del.
Blair walked up holding Starr’s hand, “Did I hear my name?”
Starr and Trevor waved to each other.
“Can I play with Starr Daddy?” asked Trevor.
“Sure,” said Todd, “Just don’t run around too much. Be careful on that foot.”
“Yes, Daddy,” said Trevor as Del put him down. Starr took Trevor’s hand and they walked off slowly, Trevor slightly limping.
“O.k., Blair – what’s going on with you and Del?” asked Todd.
“Aren’t you nosy?” asked Blair smiling at Todd.
“Well, what effects Shorty effects me and all she gabbed about in San Juan was about you and Del…” said Todd.
Blair held out her right hand. A diamond ring glared back at him.
“You asked her?” muttered Todd pulling on his shirt’s collar.
“Yeah,” said Del.
“And you said yes?” asked Todd looking at Blair.
“Yeah,” said Blair.
“Does Téa know?” asked Todd.
“Not yet,” said Del, “I was going to tell her today.”
Todd fidgeted, “Ah, o.k. Ah…Téa looks lonely on the dance floor…Ah, I’m ah, going to keep her company…” Todd muttered and walked off, “Ah, Congrats,” he said turning around as an afterthought.
Del and Blair looked at each other and laughed.
Todd walked up behind Cris and tapped his shoulder. Cris and Téa stopped dancing.
“Do you mind?” asked Todd. Cris gracefully stepped aside and Todd took Téa in his arms.
“Del’s got something to tell you,” said Todd.
“I know. I’ve noticed that rock Blair’s been sporting on her hand,” said Téa smiling at him.
“You’re pretty observant,” said Todd.
“Lawyers usually are,” said Téa smiling at him.
“You know – you look, ah, gorgeous in that gown…” said Todd softly.
“Well, you look pretty handsome in that tux,” remarked Téa, “And T.D. looks absolutely adorable in his.”
“He’s a cute kid,” said Todd, “He has his mom’s nose, cheekbones, hair…”
“…but your eyes,” finished Téa.
Todd pulled her close to him, “You’re amazing.
“So are you,” said Téa, her lips, inches from his.
They slowed down their dance and melted into a soft, tender kiss that began to grow into something deeper…
Todd felt a tap on his shoulder.
He turned around abruptly, pissed, “WHAT?!” he demanded.
Téa blushed.
Viki stood there holding a phone. Kevin stood next to her, clearly upset.
“Sorry Viki,” said Todd. Téa placed her hand around Todd’s waist, drawing him into her.
“What’s up Viki?” asked Téa. She was clearly giddy over the kiss she just shared with Todd.
“I just got a phone call from Bellevue Todd,” said Viki, “There’s been an accident.”
Todd and Téa’s face grew serious, “What? With Fiona?”
“Yeah, with Fiona,” said Kevin, “She’s being rushed to Llanview General by helicopter.”
“She’s what – only six months?” questioned Téa, her voice cold.
“Yeah,” said Kevin, “They might have to take the baby. The guardian ad litem is needed at the hospital.”
Todd swallowed.
“What are you saying?” asked Téa, “Is Fiona having a miscarriage?”
“They think so Téa,” said Viki.
“Shit,” muttered Todd.
“C’Mon Todd,” said Kevin, “We need to go now.”
“Don’t expect to ride in my car,” said Todd.
“You’re a cold, unfeeling bastard,” said Kevin getting in Todd’s face, “That could be your kid!”
“But it ain’t my kid. It’s yours. How does it feel knowing your kid’s life is in my hands?” asked Todd.
“Why you…” Kevin’s eyes burned with hate. Viki got between them.
“Stop it now. There’s a baby’s life at stake. You two have got to work together to save it,” said Viki decisively.
Todd turned to Téa, “C’Mon, let’s go get down to the hospital.”
Téa frowned and took a deep breath. After asking Jessie to keep an eye on Trevor and the twins, Todd and Téa walked out. Viki and Kevin followed them.
